Music artists require advice on a whole range of matters, including commercial deals. David Farquharson takes the lead on such deals, and we are proud of having advised some exceptionally talented and globally recognised artists.

Separately, Julia Montero provides us with expertise and insight into some of the biggest issues facing the UK music industry. Julia has been a senior consultant at LLC since 2020 and also runs her own practice.

She recently stepped down from the Board of The Ivors Academy where she was one of the first two Independent Directors appointed in 2018, later serving as Deputy Chair (non-creator) and Trustee of The Ivors Academy Trust (the charity associated with The Ivors Academy, which supports UK music creators through scholarships, bursaries, and professional development programmes).

Over six years, Julia provided key public policy and legal advice to the Ivors Academy, tackling industry issues such as AI, data protection, and post-Brexit challenges, and has contributed to forums like UK Music and the UK Government. She also chaired the Finance & Risk Committee and helped the Ivors Academy navigate its organisational and structural changes.
