Blue Earth Summit

Attending the Blue Earth Summit 2025 at Woolwich Works was a reminder for our CEO Jo Farquharson on how innovators and changemakers across a range of sectors are driving innovation for a better world.

It was great to hear speakers such as environmental campaigner, Tony Juniper CBE who spoke about valuing nature and integrating environmental goals with social justice, investor Deborah Meaden speak about practical ways businesses can balance profit with sustainability, and Sir Tim Smit’s, the co-founder of the Eden Project, talk on the power of dreams to build a better world.

She also heard from Colin Butfield, Co-Founder of Open Planet and Executive Producer of David Attenborough’s Ocean documentary and Clare Brook from the Blue Marine Foundation about their policy-led campaign to ban the terrifying destructive practice of ocean bottom trawling.

It was a pleasure to catch up with Nick Warren from Reboxed, one of our clients, who is leading the way in circular tech, and to meet Jess Boyd and Mary Rice from the Environmental Investigation Agency, who we support through our 1% for the Planet contribution, as well as Quint Finney, our 1% for the Planet account manager.

It was fascinating to learn about some of the innovation happening in sustainability, including with the Farm Urban team about integrating sustainable agriculture into city life, and Amy Rennison of Earthset, a community that helps deliver their net positive missions.

Summits like this certainly reinforce our approach; that being a Certified B Corp and giving back through membership of 1% for the Planet helps to create impact through purpose. We look forward to future conversations and working alongside those who share the same mission.
